First I did the diodes and soldering just the cathodes. The top row of cathode leads I soldered by themselves. Then for each row below I bent the cathode lead so that it touched the cathode lead of the diode below it and repeating that process built the columns for my matrix. Next I added the pin headers and following a tip I found online I held them down with some of the plastic foam my components shipped with.

The MB-6582 control surface is based on wiring matrices that it allow it to use less DIN (digital in) and DOUT (digital out) ins and outs. Since I'm making my own control surface I can either direct wire everything or make my own matrices. From what I learned online there are not enough ins/outs on the MB-6582 so I'd have to make additional modular ones, so I decided to go the matrix route. It'll be a pain in the ass, but certainly a learning experience. One of the most common places to find a wire matrix is in a computer keyboard.
I finished up the non-control surface related components. That would be C1_CORE1-C1_CORE4, C2_CORE1-C1_CORE4, Q1_CORE1-C1_CORE4, C16-C23, and C24. I tested all these and clip the leads, which I regretted because I need to soldering C24, which is a radial cap, on its side... After clipping I heated of its solder and pulled out of the holes at much as I could. It still can't lie on its side, but it seems there's now enough space for it to fit under the keyboard. I ordered one of these the other day for 4 cents (and free shipping...
Finished up the SID section. For the caps sticking up I heated their pads up while gently pulling up on the lead. For one cap I wasn’t gentle enough and ripped its lead off as if it was an insect leg and I was a sociopathic child. I had some extra 470pF caps so I was able to replace it.

Now that I know the power section is fine I can move on to populating the rest of the SID module components.
C3_SID(1-4), C23_SID(1-4), C7_SID(1-4), and C27_SID(1-4) are 1nF (1000pF).
C4_SID(1-4) and C24_SID(1-4) are the 470pF ceramic (not film) caps.
C9_SID(1-4) and C29_SID(1-4) are 100nF (0.1uF) caps.
C13_SID(1-4) and C14_SID(1-4) are 100nF (0.1uF) caps and are found below each SIDs IC sockets.
C5_SID(1-4) and C25_SID(1-4) are 10uF caps and are polarized so care has to be taken to install them in the correct direction.
